May 1... It's been a couple of years since we sang at First Wesleyan in Charlotte, and it was wonderful to visit with these old friends at their homecoming service.  The homecoming meal in the fellowship hall was second-to-none, as any of you Wesleyans would know.  Please be in prayer for our friend Thurmond Caldwell, who is undergoing tests to determine the reason for a blood loss.

May 1... Our friends Cynthia and Peter Quinn invited us to sing at their home church, Bethel Presbyterian.  Bethel is a beautiful, historic church in Cornelius.  Before the service we had a nice meal in the fellowship hall that was part of a mother/daughter banquet.  Daddy joked that, after the concert, Cynthia would probably be booted from the committee.  This got a big laugh, he didn't know that she really was stepping down!

May 5... We were called last-minute to fill an open spot on Thursday night at Doyle Lawson's Music Festival at the Denton Farm Park.  This is at the same site as the Thresher's Reunion.  We had a great time at the festival, singing twice during the day, each time between Larry Sparks and Rhonda Vincent.  We also enjoyed the music of the Wells Family, and Tim Graves and Cherokee.  The pictures were taken with a disposable camera that Michael Gabriel picked up for us on his way over.

May 27-29... We wouldn't have been anywhere but at the 81st Annual Old Time Fiddlers and Bluegrass Festival at Union Grove, NC.  We were thrilled by the performances of David Holt and the Kruger Brothers, and enjoyed the other fine performers and competitors immensely.  Harper and Wansie Van Hoy were once again gracious hosts.  Mr. Van Hoy remarked several times that he felt that this year's family atmosphere was the best that he had experienced.  We had a lot of fun camping and jamming with some of the region's best musicians.  We especially enjoyed an appearance by the Grove's youngest band, John Cockman, Sr. and the Butterpats!
