January 8... The Sherrill's Ford Volunteer Fire and Rescue annual Awards Banquet has become sort of a tradition for us.  We love to honor the brave men and women of our community with a little music, and we enjoy seeing them get their rewards.  The meeting was at the Hopewell UMC Community Center, and the the meal was chicken and beef with mashed potatoes.  Resident good man Darin Gantt ran the sound system for us, and thank you, Peggy Gantt, for those glorious rolls.

January 11... The Tuesday Night Jamboree at the Mooresville Citizen's Center was a huge success.  The tickets were sold out, and the audience was treated to a fine array of musical styles.  There was country, jazz, comedy, western swing, bluegrass and folk.  Al Richards hosts the program.  Even though a broken arm prevents him from playing the fiddle, he still plays well on the piano.  Alan Brown came an ran the sound for us, then met us at Denny's for a late night snack.

January 15... We were honored to attend a dinner and benefit gospel singing at Macedonia Baptist Church, for the Rodney Curles family.  The oyster stew dinner was at 5:30, then we sang in the sanctuary at 7:00.  Rodney has had a pancreas and kidney transplant.  The kidney failed, and he is preparing for a second transplant.  He is also suffering from a deterioration of the bones, particularly in his feet.  The Curles' have three young children.  To donate to the Curles family, please contact Rev. Ken Jones at 704-735-3287 or 704-400-7497.  Thank you!

February 27... We sang a little west of Taylorsville, NC, at Antioch Baptist Church.  Aunt Ginny and Judy Hoover brought Grandma Cockman to the concert, and Aubrey and Elizabeth Riley made the trip down from Boone to watch their grandchildren perform.  We were really impressed with the church's slide presentation before the service, and during our introductions.  It was almost as if we had planned the presentation as part of our program!
