October 2... The second annual Claremont Days was a big hit.  There were rides, food, crafts, old cars, music... all the right ingredients!  Along with us were Biggerstaff Bluegrass, the Greenes, Three Bridges, and the Steeles.  The MC was Aaron Wilburn, who told jokes and sang some Mike Snyder songs.  Radio station JOY FM was the media sponsor, so I got to see my old high school buddy and radio DJ Sam Stutts.

October 9... We had a fun time at Cotton Ginning Days in Dallas, NC.  We drove mules, milked goats, and rode trains.  There was also some pretty good music.  Billy was with Jamie at the hospital, so we got some help on the banjo from Donnie Little and Anthony Scruggs.  We were glad to get the Flowers Sisters' new CD, Arwen and Lorien had worn the old one completely out.  We were also tickled to hear to Peasall Sisters, who are famous for singing on the "O Brother Where Art Thou?" soundtrack.  Actually they're more famous in our family for singing on the "O Veggie Where Are Thou?" sing-along CD.

October 12... We had a nice Tuesday evening in Hickory at a private residence.  We sang for the Hickory Music Club, then had some refreshments.  It was neat to sing for our old middle-school chorus teacher, Mr. Doug Brady.  Sorry no pictures!

October 16... We sang at Keppel Auditorium in Catawba College for "Singing for the Cure" a Rowan County Relay for Life benefit concert.  Music featured the Down East Boys, Mark Bishop, Mountain Creek Harmony, and the Cockmans Family.  Terry Beaver was the MC.  Mark Bishop has written some really nice songs.  Caroline came and sang, even though her due date is Wednesday!

October 23... We sang at the Brock Auditorium in Mocksville to benefit the Davie County Abuse Prevention.  The concert was for a good cause, and we enjoyed the New Jerusalem Choir, The Rhythmairs, and the Sounds of Faith.  We had to leave early to take care of the babies at home!  Caroline was not with us, of course, so it was just the "Cockman Brothers".

October 30... We sang Saturday morning at the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new Catawba park in Catawba, NC.  The new park is located in north-east Catawba behind the fire department.  There were games and vendors, and the weather was just right.  We enjoyed the music of the Reed family!  Joseph also enjoyed a visit by his Grandma and his Aunt and cousins from Florida!

October 30... After some great fish, and music by the Cockman Family, all of the area Republican politicians gathered at Bandys High School to thank a group of community supporters for their help and to remind them to get out and vote.  At 8:00, all of the North Carolina State Republican candidates showed up on a bus with NC Republican Senate Candidate Richard Burr.  It was North Carolina Republican heaven with several dozen state and local leaders delivering short, inspirational speeches in the Bandys High School band room.
