July 4... This was our second time in Lenoir at the Gospel Barn, this time for an outdoors concert.  The scenery and weather was nice, and Fred King made sure everyone had plenty of BBQ.  The Dollar Brothers from Meat Camp had to cancel, but we were joined by a great gospel-bluegrass group from Gastonia, NC.

July 5... It was cold and rainy in the park at Blowing Rock this July 5th, and the parade was held during a downpour.  After the parade, the rain stopped long enough for us to dry the stage and sing for an hour in some pretty dense fog.  I wish I had a picture of the dozen people avoiding the rain by crowding into our pull-trailer!

July 6... Sunday we set up in the rain at Fred's Mercantile on top of Beech mountain.  We were afraid this would be our second rain-out at Fred's, but the weather held off for the concert.  There is a saying around here -- "If you don't like the weather, just wait around a few minutes and it will change".  We especially enjoyed the meal provided by Fred's backside deli!  Visit www.fredsgeneral.com for more information on upcoming events at Fred's.

July 12... The Doc Watson Music Festival at Cove Creek much more enjoyable this year due to the fact that there was not a constant downpour and we didn't have to rush off to another engagement.  We are all big fans of Doc Watson, and any opportunity to sing with him is appreciated.  We also got to hear some great music provided by Old School Freight Train, the Steep Canyon Rangers, the Kruger Brothers, and David Holt, just to name a few.

July 13... Sunday we sang at Mount Hebron Wesleyan Church in Old Fort, NC.  Mount Hebron and Old Fort Wesleyan were our Grandpa Cockman's first charges after graduation, and Mount Hebron is also the home church of Jennifer's maternal grandparents, Clifford and Rebekah Knupp (long story).  We have been coming back to Mount Hebron for around thirteen years!
