April 27...  Once again e were in Bluegrass heaven, also known as the Merle Watson Memorial Festival (Merlefest)  at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, NC.  Merle was the son of Doc Watson, who hosts the festival.  Nearly 100,000 people were in attendance over a four-day period.  We were there Saturday and Sunday, and got to hear a host of awesome musicians and singers.  For a complete artist list and other festival information, visit www.merlefest.org.

Andy Leftwich (fiddle), Jerry Douglas (dobro), Ricky Scaggs (mandolin), Sam Bush (mandolin), Byron House (bass), Paul Brewster (rhythm guitar), Bryon Sutton (lead guitar), and Jimmy Mills (banjo, not pictured).

We sang on Sunday, at 10:35 AM on the Creekside stage.  Creekside Sunday was all Gospel, hosted by our friend George Hamilton IV.  This was an inspirational weekend.  I especially enjoyed the Del McCoury Band, Leahy, and of course Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver!

The Del McCoury Band plays an encore (MC: "Dude, you're getting another Del.")
