October 5... The First Harvest Fest at the Iredell County Fairgrounds was a lot of fun.  The festival was sponsored by Stony Point Christian Publications.  There were exhibits, crafts and rides, and of course lots of good music!  Daddy was the MC for the music in the big tent, and we enjoyed the music of the Gospel Voices, the Lanning Sisters, the Golden Valley Crusaders, the Inspirations, and Steve "Rabbit" Easter.

October 5... We were the host band at the Granite Quarry Civitan Fiddler's Convention south of Salisbury, NC.  We sang for forty-five minutes at the start of the competition, then for a while after an award was given to Harry and Jeannie West.  We got to hear lots of great area bands, including Southern Junction.  We have recently gotten out of the competition scene, but coming back like this makes us miss it!

October 6... We were invited to homecoming at Denver Baptist.  The church has outgrown the sanctuary, so we all sat around round tables in the gym.  Aunt Ginny Speaks came and brought Grandma Cockman.  After the singing and preaching, we were treated to a homecoming dinner that stretched about ten tables long.  We all got our food and then went back to the same tables in the gym to eat!

October 12... Anthony Scruggs provided a great sound at Cotton Ginning Days in Dallas.  Rebecca Braddy invited us again this year to this great festival near Gastonia, NC.  This is one of our last "fall festivals", and we were sure to have lots of fun riding the train, going to the petting zoo -- and listening to great bluegrass music!  Thanks to Rebecca Braddy for the second set of pictures.

October 13... It's been a while since we sang at Olivet Baptist Church in our hometown of Sherrill's Ford.  It is always great to sing to so many that we know.  Pastor David Brannon has been our friend for years, and music director Ron Caldwell loaned us our first sound system fifteen years ago.

October 18... The last time we tried it, a power failure caused the benefit to be cancelled.  This time around, the weather was beautiful.  The Wal-Mart Children's Miracle Network is a worthy cause, and we're glad that we could help.  Other groups included Master's Choice and the "Chigger Hill Ramblers", or something like that.

October 20... It's been a few years since we sang at Sandy Ridge Wesleyan.  What a homecoming meal!  If you are Wesleyan and you plan to have a pot-luck dinner after the concert, please give us a call.  Jennifer's parents Aubrey and Elizabeth Riley attended Sandy Ridge years ago, so they came down from Boone to visit with old friends.

October 26... We were delighted when John Hinkle invited us back again for a special BBQ and singing at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe.  The dinner was wonderful, and there was a great audience for the singing.  This was our third year for the BBQ and Bluegrass, and we are beginning to feel like family.  Thanks to www.firstpresbymonroe.org for the pictures!
