May 4 ... We went down to Clover, SC, to sing at Clover Middle School to benefit Daddy's nephew Ronald.  The benefit was sponsored by the Clover JayCees, of whom Ronald is a member.  We have been in constant prayer for Ronald, who had been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. The cancer cell count was at 70%.  He was undergoing chemotherapy, and halfway through the therapy he was still at 70%.  The following week, Ronald was to have received a bone marrow transplant, donated from his sister.  However, preliminary testing showed that all of the cancer had left Ronald's body, rendering the transplant unnecessary!  We thank God for Ronald's healing, and are praying for his full recovery to good health.

May 11... We were invited to sing as special guests at Mocksville Fiddlers Convention sponsored by the Mocksville Lions Club, and were given the first annual Lion Bill Edwards Memorial Award Presented to the Cockman Family for Their Outstanding Contribution to Old-Time and Bluegrass Music.  We were very honored.  We had fun jamming with some friends and listening to some great music.

May 12... We spent Mother's Day near Old Fort at Mount Hebron Wesleyan Church.  Mount Hebron is the home church of Jennifer's grandparents Rebecca and Clifford Knupp.  We have been visiting Mount Hebron for the past twelve or so years, and Pastor Tommy Wright and family were gracious enough to have us back.  On a side note, the pot-luck dinners at Mount Hebron are something we look forward to all year!

May 18-19... We sang Saturday and Sunday at the Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ in Elizabethton.  The scheduled picnic and games at the Pavilion were cancelled due to inclement weather, but the singing was held at the church instead.  There was a lot of great music, and we especially enjoyed the preaching of Brother Homer Longoria.

May 31 ... It was a great joy for us to kick off a concert series at Unity Place in Gastonia, NC.  Formerly the AME Zion Church, this historic old building has been saved through the efforts of Skip McPhail and is being used as a cultural arts and performance place.  Along with the Cockmans were Jack Kimbro and the Songsters and Pastor Dick Whitener.  We wish them all the best, and we know that they will be rewarded for their labor of love in Gastonia.
