March 3-4... We all jumped in the bus Saturday morning at followed the preacher (Charles Brumley) out to Manchester, TN, to sing at some weekend meetings hosted by Brother Howard Carroll at Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ.  We blew two tires in Canton at 9:00 AM, and spent the next two hours trying to get then fixed.  Then we hit the road running, and made it to Manchester in time to set up the PA system.  Thank goodness we gained an hour due to the time-change!  We had a good singing Saturday evening and Sunday morning, and of course heard some great preaching.  We came home Sunday afternoon after a pot-luck dinner, but Brother and Sister Brumley continued with Michael and Sylvia Burgess (our song leader and his wife) on out to Missouri for more preaching.

March 11... We celebrated Ben's 20th Birthday by singing at Mount Ruhama Baptist Church.  Ben was pretty sick at the time, so I hope he won't have bad memories.  After the concert we stopped by Geppeto's Pizza in Newton for a party and cake, but I was sick as well so I didn't get any pictures.  Even though we were under the weather, we still had a good singing and a nice weekend .

March 18... Mount Hebron was where it all started for Jennifer and me.   We met around twelve or so years ago at the Clifford Knupp appreciation day.  Clifford is Jennifer's grandfather.  My grandfather was the visiting preacher, because he was Clifford's pastor in the 1930s when Clifford was only seven years old.  Grandpa brought us along to sing and the rest is history.  Pastor Tommy Wright and congregation brought a tremendous covered-dish meal, and we had time to spare for a little basketball afterward!  Click here for last year's pictures at Mount Hebron!

March 18... Sunday night we sang for the first time at Groce United Methodist in Asheville, NC.  We arrived early and played a game of basketball with the Ed, the associate pastor.  We were particularly glad to see our uncle Elijah and aunt Joan from Hendersonville, and my friend Larry Young from Boone with his wife Joyce.  Elijah is a retired Methodist Minister and Army Chaplain, and Larry preaches at Brookside Presbyterian Church.  We had a great concert, and it was good to be greeted by so many familiar faces at a new place!

March 30... We sang again at the Master Breeders Annual Meeting held at the Statesville Civic Center.  We ate, ate, ate and then ate.  The singing began around seven o'cluck, and afterward we did gymnastics in the hallway while the chicken breeders watched an informative, hour-long chicken breeding video.  It was a very weird night.

We each had half a barbequed chicken, rolls, beans, slaw and peach cobbler before the concert.

Due to the meal, our set consisted only of slow instrumentals.

March 31... We always have a great time reuniting with old friends and jamming until midnight at the Mooresville Fiddler's Convention, held at the Mooresville Senior High School in Guess Where, NC.  We don't make it to many conventions anymore, but we always have a lot of fun when we get the chance.  I won second place fiddle, Billy got first banjo, and the Cockmans won first place Bluegrass Band.  The prizes were in cash, so it was a long sprint to the bus.

April 1... The Cockmans always sing their best on April Fools Day (I Cor. 5:10), so Brother Charles Brumley invited us to hold a concert at our home church, Apostolic Tabernacle in Newton, NC.  Our church is blessed with many talented singers and musicians, and we also enjoyed the music of several visitors.  It was a real treat when a couple from Coast Rica sang all four verses of "How Great Thou Art" in Spanish.
