March 3... Today was Arwen's first live concert as we sang in Brevard, NC.  The concert was at Union Hall and was sponsored by the North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia Bluegrass Association.  Playing also with us was the King Creek Bluegrass Band, a great local performing group.  Also there was the Melvin Goins Band, and these guys really put on a great show.  Kelly Fisher and Kenneth Deese came along with us to this concert that started at 7:00 and lasted late into the night.

March 4... It felt like a family reunion at the First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, NC.  Our Aunt and Uncle, Sarah and Jack Meyers drove all the way up from Columbia, SC. to visit with us.  FUMC of Hendersonville is the home church of our Uncle Rev. Elijah Cockman.  Elijah and Aunt Joan treated us all to dinner at the J&S Cafeteria, along with his daughter Leslie Merrill and her family.  Also visiting was Elijah's son Wesley.  Wesley is a United Air pilot who flew in from Colorado this week.  On another note, we were interviewed by Bob Sisk for his radio program on WFGW called Southern Gospel Insight.  Thanks to all the Cockman Family News subscribers who came out this weekend!

March 12... It is always a pleasure to play in your own church, and tonight was no exception.  Our little assembly in Newton, NC, has really been blessed with good singers and songwriters, and we really enjoyed a lot of good music.  It was also special for Bro. Dwight Hall to bring his church to worship with us.  Brother Hall is a very gifted western singer and songwriter, and we had a great time backing him up on some of his great original tunes.  After the service we all went uptown to Fuddrucker's and celebrated Ben's 19th birthday.  Ben turned 19 on Saturday, March 11.  Happy Birthday, Ben!

March 18... We sang today at the North Mecklenburg High School to benefit the Angels of 97 Memorial Scholarship, which is in memory of five students who died in 1997.  Along with the Cockman Family were many other singers, jugglers, clowns, minstrels, etc.  We were served a great spaghetti lunch and were able to relax and enjoy all the entertainment!

March 19... We sang this morning at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, the church of our old friends Al and Darryl Fielding.  Al and Darryl are some bluegrass pickers that helped us along when we were first getting started.  After the morning service we went to Western Steer for lunch!

March 25... We only go to a few Fiddlers' Conventions each year, and we always try to make it to Mooresville.  The event is a bluegrass band competition in which the contestants each sing two songs.  We sang "Keep on the Firing Line" and "Victory in Jesus".  The Cockman Family won first place band, Billy won first banjo, Benjamin won first mandolin, David won second bass, and Daddy and I won a few laughs.  Sorry -- no pictures!

March 26...  Sunday evening we sang for a very lively congregation at Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Albemarle.  Before the singing we were treated to a wonderful pot-luck dinner.  The people made us feel right at home, and we felt like our music was really well received.
