June 3... It's been a while since we sang at a bluegrass festival, and we had a lot of fun jamming and listening to all the good music at the Cleveland County Fairground.  We especially enjoyed the performances of the Bass Mountain Boys.

June 4... We were thrilled to sing at Mount Hebron, where my grandfather preached some fifty years ago and where Jennifer and I first met.  We got to see Jennifer's grandparents, Clifford and Rebekah Knupp, and many of our friends from Old Fort.

June 4... Though it was raining outside, we had a good time singing in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC..  This event was sponsored by the church's cookie ministry, so that meant lots of cookies for us!  It was great to see the Poes and the Quinns, and we made lots of new friends.

June 7... First Presbyterian of Rome is a beautiful church with an impressive history (Woodrow Wilson was married there).  The congregation made us feel right at home.  We were served a great dinner, then God blessed us with a wonderful concert.  David's mother-in-law-to-be came down from Chattanooga, and Billy's FIANCÉ Jamie Rushing was there as well.  As an added bonus, our friend Alan Brown, who was in Atlanta on business, dropped in to see us!

June 16... It's always a lot of fun to sing at a surprise 40th Birthday Party..  Brother Walker seemed pretty surprised, but it could just be old age dimming his wits.  Jessie's father, Lauren Vallier, came with Jessie to the party.  Mr. Vallier was visiting from Nebraska to make sure he really wanted his daughter to be around this crazy bunch.

June 17... The Hospitality Group, led by Steve Smith, sponsored a special dinner concert at Central Church of God.  We were given an excellent picnic style meal (complete with large rubber ants), and then an ice cream sundae dessert.

June 18... Once again we sang at the Union Cross Friends Meeting for a special Father's Day concert.  Pastor Jerry Gibbons delivered a great message, then we sang on up until lunchtime.  I won a gift certificate to an area restaurant for being the youngest father at the meeting!

June 24... Today was Grandma Callie Cockman's 89th birthday, and Uncle Darl and Aunt Mary Fowler gave her a huge birthday bash.  A lot of family showed up for lunch Saturday afternoon, and Darl was ready with his grill and plenty of hot dogs and hamburgers.  After Grandma received her presents, we made a little music then gave a wedding shower to David and Jessie.  Later that evening, most of the family left, but the back yard was re-filled with friends of Darl and Mary.  We made ice-cream, then had a great evening of bluegrass and barbershop quartet music (Uncle Darl's a barbershopper).  Click here to find out about Grandma's cookbook!

June 25... The morning after Grandma's birthday party, we sang at her church.  We have been to Faith Wesleyan many times, and each time seems better than the last.  We were met by our friend Pastor Buddy Rampey, who also attended Grandma's party.  We sang for both the 8:30 AM and the 10:30 AM services.
