Jan 2... What a great way to start the New Year!  We had a great time in Jamestown at Bales Chapel.  Jennifer's grandmother, Elva Riley, attends church at Bales, and she fixed dinner for Jennifer and me after church.  Jennifer's parents, Aubrey and Elizabeth, were there to make the family dinner complete.  Afterwards we met the rest of the family in Greensboro to visit Grandma Cockman and our aunt and uncle Mary and Darl Fowler.

Jan 9... We saw a lot of old friends at the First Baptist Church in Mooresville, NC.  The church is only a few blocks away from the Mooresville Senior High where we used to attend a Fiddler's Convention every spring.  We are going to be in concert at Mooresville Senior High on February 12th at 7:00 PM with the Melody Masters Quartet.  For more information about this upcoming concert, call Ralph Knox at 704-896-0888.

Jan 15... We ate way too much of the chicken and ribs supplied by Bennett's BBQ of Hickory, NC.  Then we got to sing for all the community volunteers (along with their families) at the Sherrill's Ford Fire and Rescue Squad's Annual Awards Banquet at Hopewell Community Center, right across the road from where our Grandfather Cockman was buried.  In attendance were our Grandfather and Grandmother Gabriel, and our friend Claude Hill from Moorehead City.  This was a doubly special day, because it is Grandpa Gabriel's 84th birthday.  Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

Jan 29... We had a lot of fun in New Bern, NC at Craven Community College.  The concert was hosted by Fred Bizzell, a great banjo player and a professor or mathematics at CCC.  Fred's group, New Song Grass, began the night and were a real blessing to The Cockman Family. It was great to see Claude and Barbara Hill and all our friends from Reese's Chapel.  Caroline rode down with her friend Becky Roark the boys came down a day early with Kenneth Deese for a little vacation.
