Dec 6... We had a terrific time at this fundraiser for some dear friends and members of our church.  This concert went to benefit the family of Darrell and Christa Phillips, whose home was destroyed recently by fire.  None of the family was hurt, but there was very significant property damage.  The concert was held at Word of Truth Tabernacle where Caroline and her husband Kelly attend church.  Timothy Cross was the emcee, and also joining us were the Miller Sisters, three very talented daughters of Word of Truth Pastor Glenn Miller.

Dec 5... We had another great morning at Whitsett Baptist Church with our friends the Stevens Family.  Pastor Tim Stevens preaches a powerful sermon each time we hear him.  We were privileged to sing "Away In A Manger" with his daughter Candace, who has a very beautiful voice.  We are blessed every time we sing at Whitsett Baptist, and we are looking forward to singing at there again next year.  Our Grandma Cockman, who is living with our aunt and uncle, Mary and Darl Fowler, came with us to Whitsett.  Grandma has a cookbook which is published by our another aunt and uncle, Margaret and Dwain Kitchel.  Click here for more information about grandma's cookbook!

Dec 10... At the Assembly Inn on the campus of Montreat Anderson college, we ate a great meal and were blessed by the presence of many wonderful friends.  Kenneth Deese, Billy's friend Jamie Rushing and her friend Heather came up with us.  Our cousins, Archie and Judy Gabriel drove all the way up from Sherrill's Ford to be with us.  Their son Aron was one of my best friends throughout high school, and he played basketball for Montreat-Anderson.  Jennifer's cousin, Jennifer Brooks, is a freshman also playing basketball at Montreat, and she came with her friend Mary Hathcock, who is also one of mama's piano students.  It was a treat as always to see Glen Bannerman, Dick Roberts and Vicky Hensley of Asheville.  They have each done a lot to promote and support traditional music in Buncomb County.  There were also many other friends that I can't begin to name.  It was especially thrilling to be in the presence of Carlene and George Beverly Shea, along with the tireless Maury Scobee.  These three people are very special to the Cockman Family and to Christians around the world who have been blessed by the Billy Graham Crusades.  Bev Shea is my favorite gospel singer, and it was a special moment that I will never forget when he came up on stage to sing "Silent Night" with us.

Dec 11... Every December we always make sure to go down to Kinston, NC to sing at Lenoir Community College for the Eastern North Carolina Bluegrass Association.  We always get to do a lot of jamming and see some old friends. Claude and Barbara Hill were there, and also Fred Bizel, a great banjo picker who puts on a monthly show at Craven Community College.  We will be singing for Fred on January 29th.

Dec 12... After singing in at Lenoir Community College on Saturday night, we drove to Mill Creek, near Moorehead City, NC and set up the sound system at Reese's Chapel Baptist Church.  This is the church of our friends Claude and Barbara Hill, and everyone is so friendly there we feel just like we're at home!  After setting up, we left to spend the night in Atlantic Beach.  The ocean was beautiful early Sunday morning when we left to go sing for Reese's Chapel's morning service.  After church, we had a meal of fresh shrimp and fish prepared by the experts.

Dec 26... This morning we gathered at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Sherrill's Ford for the dedication of two flower stands in the memory of our grandfather, Rev. W. C. Cockman.  The stands were purchased by his cousin Elizabeth Knox.  We sang three Christmas songs, and most of the immediate family was in attendance.
